Old picture from a reminiscence narrow
boat trip pre Tylers Lock.
The pump house looks much more
dilapidated, and towpath has none
of todays tidy appearance.

The sheer majesty of the current profile
risen from the years of neglect.
There are two large pools to view in
the gardens, safe for children
but easy to see the large fish.

The sumptuous view from the canal now
as opposed to the older one detailed, a
great deal of work has gone into this venture.

The entrance view, there are metal
curves in the walls like steps in
places, currently suspending hanging
baskets they sell, but Im on the
trail of the original usage.
The field where the chimney foundations are
to be found. Will investigate after harvest time.

The front, mercifully without cars for
once, showing the true size of the place.
When the engine worked, it must have
been an awesome place to stand.

The pump house from the canal boat moorings, much as
it must have been 200 years ago, but quieter.

Front entrance with pump house at the back.
A narrow country lane leads in to a huge car park,
once you have parked, the canal is obviously only a stones
throw away, and many locks are found in very
quick succession one way, or a church, top lock
and mooring basin on the other. Fortunately there is a
public walk way to the church, which is a
fascinating structure, and houses the tomb
of the Earl of Plymouths family. Well
worth a look which I wont spoil by
describing in its entirety, but fascinating
reading from a time gone by.

Old winding gear at entrance, seems
somehow at rest after years of effort.

A sluice gate very close to the pump house,
still works to deal with excess water. The brickwork
behind it reads 1815. There are numerous still
functional oddities dotted all around. And thats
just the staff.
