The recent rates rise did not result in many raising their base
savings rate. Intelligent finance did pass this on to their customers.
Many of you out there will be used to paying the high street banks
whatever they want to charge you at any given moment. There is
also the trend to charging a lot when interest is low and giving little back
when rates are high. Enter a new breed of bank, the internet bank.
There is no middle man, plus it is possible to actually pass on the
benefits of the current base rates instead of being in a rigid, charge
so much we can get away with, vicious circle and virtual monopoly for many years.
Let us face it, we all used to bank at one of the major high street banks, period.

against this. We will all have to save again soon as the recession bites, as interest rates

offset this against your personal loans, so the less personal loan repayment you pay
month on successive month, year on successive year, long term.
that is not rocket science, it is just common sense, and they are subsidiary of
the Halifax, so their reputation is above reproach. It makes sense to shop wisely
a little now with your money, much as it does with gas, electrics, water and other
services once in a stranglehold monopoly, yet now spread wide open to those
with the sense to perceive it.
These may not be the rock bottom of the available interest rates online, but I feel represent a long term solution to our preoccupation with borrowing, and may well get us back into the habit of saving a little for a rainy day as well, surely it is sure to pour down soon.
