Your mission is to tame a front lawn area.



The original layout, I delineated the new areas with house bricks
and dug out a few lowered beds, making raised beds next to them.



Next up came the trench around the front bit phase.





How I think a rose should be pruned, above buds 45 degrees
slanted away from it, to allow water to drain away from the bud
and not puddle on top as would be the case if cut straight across.



Thus was the groundwork laid. The considerable planting cost
300 pounds or more, and then I made the mistake of saying
watch out for weeds

They did in fact take me literally. I have pictures of the
grotesque result of this, but will spare you the details,
as those of you with any pride in gardening will no doubt
concur, with sadly shaking heads.
This led to the put bark on as it cannot be weeded phase.


Bark was 3.50 miouw was 2 pounds.
Ten bags of bark went on at total of 35 pounds



That is the story so far. I have said you will see the weeds now more
easily but that could also be the sum total of the effort seeing
I think that all this shows a. how well it can be transformed and
b. how fast it can deteriorate if left unattended even a short time here.
